Elijah Parish Lovejoy (1805-1837)

Presbyterian minister Lovejoy gave the ultimate sacrifice in his efforts to end slavery -  he was violently murdered in Alton, IL. by a pro-slavery mob because he would not stop publishing his anti-slavery newspaper.

Inducted in 2013 to
