Humphreys revealed what he envisioned during the years it took him to create his painting. An imagined anti-slavery meeting on the green in Peterboro in 1850. According to the artist, the 40"x 84" acrylic on gessobord work contains "numerous mini-scenes of people talking, yelling, singing, gawking, laughing, scowling, rubber necking, rushing about," etc.
