 "Come Join the Abolitionists" by Hugh C. Humphreys

On display at the NAHOF Museum Dedicated May 20, 2011 Humphreys' revealed he envisioned during the years it took him to create his painting. It is an imagined anti-slavery meeting on the green in Peterboro, New York in 1850.
According to the artist, the 40"x 84" acrylic on gesso board work contains "numerous mini[scenes of the people talking, yelling, singing, gawking, laughing, scowling, rubber necking, rushing about, " etc. ect.

A community heritage gift shop, located within the Visitors Center on the Gerrit Smith Estate, National Historic Landmark, in Peterboro NY. The Mercantile is staffed and operated under the management of the Smithsield Community Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of historic Peterboro.
